Gut Microbiome

Smart poople test their gut health because they recognize it's significance in overall well-being and disease prevention. The gut microbiome is linked to various aspects of health, including immunity, mood, mental health, and even weight. By monitoring gut health, smart people find they can identify imbalances or issues that may contribute to illnesses like inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, cancer, and mental health disorders. Moreover, understanding one's gut health can guide dietary and lifestyle choices to optimize microbiome diversity and vitality, leading to improved digestion, nutrient absorption, and immunity.

Smartpoop - Superior Analysis

  • Smartpoop uses the latest 16S Metagenomics PCR Sequencing and with the report having been designed by our Medical Director Dr Graham Johnson, there will be nothing you won't understand.
  • Your Gut Diversity

The diversity of your gut microbiome is a good overall indicator of health. A higher diversity score indicates a greater variety of species and more likely a healthier gut.

  • You vs Healthy

These charts show how your sample compares to the distribution of healthy people - in general, healthy microbiomes have greater diversity scores.

  • Top Bacterial Phyla

A phylum, in relation to your microbiome, is a grouping of distantly related bacterial species. Here we examine how your sample compares to an average population set.

  • Beneficial Bacteria

These bacterial groups are also associated with improved gastrointestinal health. Not of the bacteria need to be present to maintain a healthy gut microbiome.

  • Improving your Gut Health

Here, you are told if your gut diversity is normal. Recommendations are given as to the type of foods you should be consuming for good gut health.

  • Pathogens

Your Smartpoop test also looks for the presence of 20 pathogenic (disease causing) groups of bacteria in your sample and tells you if levels are safe.

  • Functional Analysis

Bacteria exist in your gut for functional purposes including short chain fatty acid production. We look for Butyrate, Lactate, Propionate and Acetate also.

  • H2S Score

Hydrogen Sulphide (HS2) is a gas that has both positive and negative effects on gut health. Keeping it low helps our gut to stay healthy, whereas high levels can be toxic.

  • Health Risks

People with certain health conditions have similar microbiome profiles. Here we look at diseases that you may be more at risk of given your current gut microbiome profile.
